history

Luboss was first mentioned in writing in 1078, when Duke Otto I left the mill and a half-hoof of the village to the Hradisko monastery . Other forms of name were Lubos (1276), Liboš (from 1468), Liboše (from 1513), Libuše (from 1531), Lebussa (from 1603), Libuss (1672), Liboss (from 1677), Libusch (from 1720), Libussium (1771) and Lybesch (1772). In 1601, the Hradian prelate Georg Pavorin von Pavorin bought an estate and the mill in Libuše . The registers were kept in Hnojice from 1648 . Jan Hrabal has been a judge in Liboss since 1699 . The first local chronicle , held in Latin, was created in 1732. West of the village, the Gilkendorf colony was established in 1786 .

After the abolition of patrimonial Libuše / Libusch formed a community in the district administration of Sternberg from 1850 . In 1854 the village had 489 inhabitants. In 1868 the bridge between Libuše and Jílkov was built. Three years later, master mason Josef Malík from Vilémov began building a schoolhouse, which was completed in 1873. Until then the children were educated in Hnojice. From 1880 the municipality was called Liboš . At that time, 457 people lived in the 64 houses of the parish. In 1882 the municipality bought the first fire engine from the František Smékal company from Čechy pod Kosířem . On May 16, 1888, the road from Moravská Huzová to Štěpánov was completed. The Jílkov municipality joined Liboš on March 27, 1898 , the merger was not officially approved until July 8, 1914. In 1888, bull breeding began in Liboš . A new poor house was built between 1899 and 1900. The village road was built in 1900 for 644 guilders over a length of almost 800 m to the chapel. The mill burned down in 1902 and was put back into operation the following year by a new owner. The volunteer fire brigade was formed in 1906. Since 1910 the Czech place name Libuš was used. In 1912, under the direction of Alois Samobrd, the regulation of the Oskava and the Říča began. A footbridge was built on the way from the chapel and an iron bridge over the Oskava on the road to Štěpánov and a weir was built near the mill. In addition, a concrete bridge was built across the river between Štěpánov and Krnov. The road connection from the chapel to Hnojice was established in 1912. The June floods of the Říča delayed the regulation work in 1914, which was only completed during the First World War. On September 2, 1917, the village was supplied with electricity for the first time by the Šternberk power station. The railway line between Štěpánov and Zábřeh was expanded to two tracks in March 1924. On March 27, 1925, the Libusch community was renamed Liboš . Two years later a new weir and a concrete bridge were built on the Oskava. The school was expanded in 1930. In that year the community consisted of 101 houses and had 466 inhabitants, of whom 273 lived in Liboš and 193 in Jílkov. During the Great Depression, the regulation of the Říča was continued in 1931 and a new footbridge was built in the meadows near Krohéč. In 1932 the volunteer fire brigade bought a “Praga Grand” car for 3500 crowns. In 1935 construction of the road to Krnov began. According to the Munich Agreement , the neighboring towns of Hnojice, Štarnov, Moravská Huzová, Lašťany and Bělkovice were occupied by the Wehrmacht on October 8, 1938, so that Liboš became a border town to the German Empire. After the German-speaking part of the Okres Šternberk was added to the German Empire as the district of Sternberg , Liboš remained with the "remaining Czech Republic" and was assigned to the Okres Olomouc. The school was closed on August 27, 1940 and the children were retrained to Stefanau . The 8th Soviet Army took the place between May 5 and 6, 1945. Before that, the Wehrmacht had blown up the bridges over the moat at the smithy and over the Oskava near Štěpánov. After the end of the Second World War, the community came back to Okres Šternberk. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, the Okres Šternberk was abolished and the municipality was assigned to the Okres Olomouc. At the same time Krnov was incorporated. In 1976 Liboš was incorporated into Štěpánov. At that time the community consisted of 169 houses and had 529 inhabitants. Of these, 428 lived in the 80 houses in the Liboš district and the 51 houses in Jílkov, and 101 in the 38 houses in Krnov. The culture house was opened the following year. Liboš broke away from Štěpánov in 1990 and has since formed its own community.
