Nuno Krus Abecasis

Nuno Krus Abecasis (born October 24, 1929 in Faro , † April 14, 1999 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese politician ( CDS ).

Career

Abecasis was born as the son of the engineer Duarte Monteverde Abecasis of Jewish origin and Maria Amélia Krus, who came from a Danish family. He studied engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon.

In 1978 he became State Secretary for Mining and Manufacturing in the government of Prime Minister Carlos Mota Pinto . In 1979 he was elected 61st President of the Câmara Municipal of Lisbon with an absolute majority and was confirmed in this office in 1985.

In 1985 he co-founded the UCCLA and in 1989 the Foundation Fundação Cidade de Lisboa .
