history

Bystricz was first mentioned in documents in 1275. At that time, the village was divided between different owners. In 1336 the place was called Bistricz major . There has been evidence of a festival since 1381. In 1446 the place was mentioned under the name Bystřice and in 1524 as Fistricz . The fortress was transformed into a castle in the 15th century, which served as a mansion. A brewery was built next to the castle. In 1447, Andreas von Studnitz expanded the rule by purchasing the Hluboký estate with the villages of Hlubočky , Nepřívaz , Hrdibořice and one half of Posluchov . In 1480 Wenceslaus von Studnitz sold the manor with the village, the chateau and the parish Bystřice , the villages Čechovice, Mrsklesy , Hlubočky and Nepřívaz, half of Polsuchov and the deserted areas of Lhota, Jestřabí and Baranov to Peter Zástřizl von Hluk . His sister Elisabeth von Pottenstein sold the property to Wilhelm von Pernstein in 1490 , who two years later sold it to Johann Filipec and his sister Dorothea von Proßnitz. On April 12, 1502, Wladislaw Jagiello raised the place to a town at the request of the new owner of the estate, Johann von Kunowitz. Bystřice received a seal and the privilege to use green wax. From 1505 the reign belonged to Martin von Stvolová and from 1517 to his brother Filip. He left the goods to his wife Elišca Šarovcová von Hradčany in 1519, who accepted her first-married son Herbort von Fulstein into the community of property. After Herbort's death in 1558 his son Karl Herbort von Fulstein inherited the rule. In 1568 he prescribed 10,000 Moravian guilders to his wife Magdalena von Würben on the rule. In 1578 Karl Herbort von Fulstein sold the rule to Hynek von Würben and Freudenthal. In 1589 the Olomouc cathedral chapter acquired the rule of Hynek von Würben in exchange for the villages of Salbnuss (Dolní Sukolom), Ober Langendorf ( Horní Dlouhá Loučka ) and Bedřichov, including an addition of 30,500 Moravian guilders. From then until the middle of the 19th century, the town belonged to the communal possessions of the Olomouc Loyal Metropolitan Chapter and was the seat of the Capitular Commun rule Groß Wisternitz, to which in addition to the town also the villages Čechovice, Hrubá Voda , Hlubočky, Jestřabí, Varhošť , Nepřívaz, Mrsklesy and part of Posluchov belonged.

After the abolition of patrimonial Hrubá Bystřice / Groß Wisternitz formed from 1850 a market town in the Olomouc district. The place name Velká Bystřice has been used since 1893 . In 1919 the largely German-inhabited community of Nirklowitz / Mrsklesy was forcibly incorporated into Marienthal. After the Munich Agreement in 1938, the district of Nirklowitz was separated and added to the German district of Bärn . Velká Bystřice remained with Czechoslovakia and until 1945 lay directly on the border with the Sudetenland , to which the villages of Marienthal and Nirklowitz belonged. In 1944 the brewery ceased operations. After the end of the Second World War Mrsklesy came back as a district to Velká Bystřice. In 1996 Mrsklesy broke up and formed its own community. Since June 1st, 1998 Velká Bystřice has been a town.
