To the east rises the Chlum (344 m) and in the southeast the Horka and the Chrást. The alluvial forest area Království ( King's Forest ) extends to the south-west . The Týnačka stream flows north of the village, with the R 35 expressway running behind it .

Neighboring towns are Vsisko and Holice in the north, Velký Týnec in the Northeast, Přestavlky the east, Horka, Suchonice and Krčmaň the southeast, Majetín in the south, Dub nad Moravou , Tučapy, Bolelouc, Čertoryje, Drahlov, Charváty and Blatecký Mlyn in the southwest, Blatec and Kožušany-Tážaly in the west and Nový Dvůr, Nemilany and Nové Sady in the northwest.

history

The village of Aw ( Au ) was founded in 1306 by the city of Olomouc , King Wenceslaus III. left a scrubland for this purpose. This led to a long-running dispute between the city and Unka of Majetín, who claimed this area for himself. From 1313 the village was called Kriegaw or Krygaw . The Olomouc citizens finally compensated Unka in 1352 with 50 pounds groschen. In 1393 the Olomouc citizen Pešek von Prostějov bought a farm in Krygaw . In 1399 the nobleman Adam von Krygaw was excommunicated after he was involved in the plundering of church goods as a follower of the Margrave Prokop of Moravia during the Moravian fratricidal war . From 1408 the place was called Krigaw , 1462 Grigow , from 1508 Grygov , from 1655 Grigau or Griegau , from 1676 Grügge , 1691 Gregow , 1751 Gregen , from 1771 Gregov , from 1846 Grügau and 1849 Grigava . Limestone has been mined on the Horka since 1513. In 1541 the city decided to build a lime kiln and two years later two burners were employed. In the hoof register of 1657, four farmers, two half and quarter hoofers and nine cottagers are listed for Grigau . The registers have been kept in Velký Týnec since 1662. At the Marcharm Morávka between Grygov and Blatec, the city had a water mill built in 1773, for which the master miller Rodeker received the concession. In 1841 the railway line from Olomouc to Prerau was completed. Until the middle of the 19th century, Grygov always remained subordinate to the city of Olomouc.

New Grygov train station

After the abolition of patrimonial Grygov / Grügau formed a community in the district administration of Olomouc from 1850. In the 1850s, the old train station was built at the level crossing. It was replaced in 1901 by the new train station on the southwestern outskirts and served as a residential building until it was demolished in 1961. In 1874 a school of its own was inaugurated in Grygov, before lessons were held in Velký Tynec. Four of the limestone quarries supplied the Hrůza & Rosenberg cement factory, which was built in Rolsberk near Olomouc in 1897, and a 600 mm narrow-gauge railway was built to the railway station. In 1909 a second school building was completed. Between 1910 and 1911, Hrůza & Rosenberg had a narrow-gauge railway built from the factory to the limestone quarries. As a result of several fires in the 1890s, a volunteer fire brigade was formed in 1900. From 1921 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-venkov. In 1926, the railway line was expanded to two tracks. During the German occupation , the place was named Königswald . The city of Olomouc was the owner of the lime works until 1946. In 1950 the community came to Okres Olomouc-okolí and since its abolition in 1961 it has belonged to Okres Olomouc. The lime distillery and the last of the six lime quarries ceased operations in 1973. The city of Olomouc used the A - D quarries between 1971 and 1996 to dump rubbish. After the Velvet Revolution, resistance against the Olomouc garbage dump arose among the residents of Grygov. In 1993 demonstrators blocked the driveway for two days.
