The Kunovice – Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the Austrian Local Railway Company (ÖLEG) as part of the Hungarian Hradisch – Hungarian Brod local railway . It runs from Kunovice to Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště .

history

Uherské Hradište station (2005)

The traffic was opened on April 1, 1883 by the ÖLEG. From January 1, 1884, the kk priv. Austro-Hungarian State Railway Company (StEG) was the owner and operator.

After the nationalization of the StEG in 1909, the line belonged to the network of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). In 1912, the local railroad's timetable showed a total of seven pairs of trains running over the entire route. Two more operated on partial routes. It took them about fifteen minutes to complete the six kilometers.

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

After the end of the Second World War, the line in the station Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště was re-integrated. The new line, which was opened on December 21, 1945 and is about one kilometer longer, now leads from the south into the station. The old route was abandoned.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia .

On February 28, 2012, the previous main line was downgraded to a regional railway ("regionální dráha") by decree of the Czech government.

In the 2012 timetable, the route is served every two hours by passenger trains on the Bylnice – Staré Město route and by express trains on the Brno – Staré Město route. Two pairs of express trains run between Praha and Luhačovice . Additional passenger trains increase the number of trains between Uherské Hradiště and Staré Město on weekdays to a 20-minute cycle.
