The Litovel předměstí – Mladeč railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as part of the state-guaranteed local railway Littau – Groß Senitz . It runs from Litovel ( Littau ) to Mladeč ( Lautsch ).

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The concession for the local railway Littau - Groß Senitz with a branch to the quarries in Lautsch was granted on December 31, 1913. Part of the concession was the obligation to “ complete the routes and hand them over to public transport ” within one year . The license was issued until December 31, 2003. The line was opened on August 1, 1914. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) for the account of the owners with their operating resources.

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). The 1921 timetable recorded three mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains. They needed 17 minutes for the six-kilometer route. Another pair of trains was used for tourist traffic on Sundays and public holidays.

With the nationalization of the local railway company on January 1, 1925, the infrastructure also became part of the ČSD network. In the mid-1930s, tourist traffic was finally stopped in favor of a bus route.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

Tourist traffic was resumed at the end of the 1940s. The 1949 timetable recorded up to six pairs of trains a day, most of which were driven as motorized trains.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 1990s, travel was finally only operated on the weekends, and on May 24, 1998 it was finally stopped entirely. What was curious was ČD's offer to let trains run when needed if at least 40 tickets were purchased. This offer was advertised as “železniční taxi” (train taxi). From 2007 to 2010 there was again scheduled travel on the weekends in summer. Since then, the line has only been used for freight traffic for the Mladeč lime works (Vápenka Vitoul sro). Operationally, the route has been graded to the towing ("vlečka").

Since the year 2012, the competent member public transport -Aufgabenträger Olomouc Region again scheduled passenger traffic during the tourist season in the summer. In the 2013 annual timetable, the route will be served by four pairs of passenger trains on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays between June 1st and September 29th.
