The railway line Veleliby – Jičín is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Bohemian Commercial Railways (BCB) as the local line Nimburg – Jičín. The route runs in Central Bohemia from Veleliby ( Welelib ) to Jičín .

history

The concession for the local railway Nimburg – Jičín was given to the founders of BCB, the contractors Johann Muzika and Karl Schnabel on May 9, 1881 together with the lines Königgrätz – Wostroměř , Sadowa – Smiřic , Kopidlno – Bakow , Křinec – Königstadtl , Nezvěstitz – Miröschau and Nusle – Modřan . Part of the concession was the obligation to “ complete the routes and hand them over to public transport ” by September 1, 1882 . The license was issued until May 8, 1971.

The route was opened on November 15, 1881. The privately owned Austro-Hungarian state railway company carried out the operation from January 1st, 1883 on behalf of the owners. After its nationalization in 1908, the line belonged to the network of the kk state railways (kkStB).

In 1912, the roadmap pointed the local railway two pairs of passenger 1st to 3rd class and two mixed pairs of trains 2nd and 3rd class in relation Poříčan-Nimburg Lokalbf-Jičín out. Another operated on the Poříčan – Nimburg Lokalbf – Kopidlno section. They needed about two hours for the 42-kilometer route.

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). At the end of the 1920s there was finally a gradual consolidation of the timetable. Some of the trains now also ran continuously between Prague and Jičín.

During the Second World War , the line was entirely in the Protectorate and was operated by the now Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). After the Second World War, the route came back to ČSD. As an innovation reversed from 1945 with railcars guided Express between Prague and Trutnov , who mastered the route between Prague and Jičín in about two hours. This direct train connection between Prague and the Giant Mountains was only given up in the 1990s.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2012 timetable, the route was served daily every two hours by passenger trains on the route Nymburk hl.n. – Jičín. On weekdays, additional trains condensed the offer, sometimes at hourly intervals. This offer was supplemented by individual express trains. Only one Sunday express train ran over the Nymburk město – Veleliby line on the Turnov – Praha – Vršovice route .
