The Ostroměř – Jičín railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Österreichische Nordwestbahn (ÖNWB). It runs from Ostroměř to Jičín . The route is part of the connection from Hradec Králové to Turnov .

history

The line was opened on December 17, 1871. The ÖNWB carried out the operation itself. After its nationalization in 1908, the line belonged to the network of the kk state railways (kkStB).

In 1912, the local railway timetable showed a total of seven mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains over the entire route. They needed 36-37 minutes for the 18-kilometer route.

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). At the end of the 1920s there was a significant compression of the timetable as well as a significant reduction in travel times. In some cases, modern motor trains were also used. The winter timetable of 1937/38 recorded a total of eleven pairs of trains, most of which were now tied from Hradec Králové to Turnov.

During the Second World War , the line was entirely in the Protectorate and was operated by the now Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB).

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2013 timetable, the route is operated every hour on weekdays by passenger trains on the Hradec Králové – Jičín (–Turnov) route. Trains run every two hours on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The route was classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") in 2014.
