The Křinec – Městec Králové railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Bohemian Commercial Railways (BCB) as the Křinec – Königstadtl local railway . It branches off at Křinec from the Veleliby – Jičín railway line and leads to Městec Králové ( Königstadtl ).

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The concession for the local railway Křinec – Königstadtl was given to the founders of BCB, the contractors Johann Muzika and Karl Schnabel on May 9, 1881 together with the lines Königgrätz – Wostroměř , Sadowa – Smiřic , Nimburg – Jičín , Kopidlno – Liban , Nezvěstitz – Miröschau and Nusle – Modřan . Part of the concession was the obligation to “complete the routes and hand them over to public transport” by September 1, 1882. The concession was issued until May 8, 1971. The first section was opened on November 15, 1881, the line to Dymokury as a siding . On January 1, 1882, the entire route was opened for freight traffic. BCB carried out the operation itself. Travel began on February 19, 1882.

On May 9, 1901, the Chlumetz – Königstadtl local railway opened the line to Chlumetz.

Passenger trains in Městec Králové station (2006)

After the nationalization of the BCB in 1909, the line came to the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). In 1912, the local railway's timetable indicated three mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains every day. They needed 52-59 minutes for the 15 km Křinec – Königstadtl route. In Königstadtl there was no direct connection to the trains to and from Chlumetz.

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2012 timetable, the timetable lists nine pairs of passenger trains on weekdays, some of which are connected to Kopidlno and Nymburk. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays there are five.
