history

The first written mention of the village belonging to the Libice Gau took place in 1323. In the middle of the 14th century, Jíkev was the seat of the knight Henik von Jíkev, whose festival was in Račana. He was followed from 1364 to 1385 by his eldest son Jan Šváb, who also owned the Výkleky and Havraň estates. This was able to expand its owners in 1364 by Krňovice , Rašovice, Vestec and Jizbice. When he died without male heirs, his property fell to King Wenceslaus . Jan Šváb's brothers remained Jíkev, Krňovice and Výkleky. Petr Šváb and his son Jan joined the Hussites in 1429. The Šváb von Jíkev family died out in the Hussite Wars and the Havraň fortress was destroyed.

At the beginning of the 17th century the village was divided. One part owned the Křinecký on Nový Ronov , the other belonged to the Berka from Dubá on Loučeň . After the Battle of White Mountain , the Nový Ronov estate was confiscated and sold to Albrecht von Waldstein . The same took place with the Loučeň reign, which Albrecht's brother Adam von Waldstein acquired. The Thurn and Taxis princes , who had owned Loučeň since the 18th century, also bought Ronov at the beginning of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Jíkev formed a political municipality in the Poděbrady district from 1850 . A bell tower was built in 1855 and collapsed in 1933. In 1866, Saxon troops were billeted in the village and brought in cholera, which killed 50 residents. In 1882 the community bought the contribution store. Two years later a new school building was built. In 1899 a narrow-gauge beet railway was built between Oskořínek and the Vlkava sugar factory . In 1908 the place got a stop on the local railway Nimburg – Jičín . In 1910, 840 people lived in Jíkev's 141 houses. In 1920 the village had 830 inhabitants. In 1934 the community came to Okres Nymburk .
