Seletice (German Seletitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 16 kilometers north of Nymburk and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .

geography

Seletice is located in the east of Svatojiřský les ( St. George's Forest ) in the foothills of the Jičínská pahorkatina. The village lies in the basin of the Kozačka brook and is largely enclosed by forest. To the north rises the hill Ostrá hůrka (287 m), in the south lies the Holoviska (247 m).

Neighboring towns are Ledce and Prodašice in the north, Sovolusky and Malý Košík in the north-east, Košík and Alexandrov in the east, Doubravany in the south-east, Sovenice and Bošín in the south, Mcely in the south-west, Chudíř and Jabkenice in the west and Ovčárny and Pěčice in the north-west.

history

Archaeological finds show the first settlement in the period between 5000 and 3000 BC. The first written mention comes from 1437. According to legend, the Seletický ze Smojma built a castle here and founded the village. However, it is more likely that the village was founded by the Selety family. Other owners of the village included Jan Košík from Lomnitz and after 1450 Jan Křinecký from Ronov auf Křinec , who joined the village to the Kunstberg domain. In 1575 Heinrich von Waldstein acquired Kunstberg and the associated villages on Dobrovice .

After the abolition of patrimonial Seletice formed a municipality in the Jičín district from 1850 . After the First World War, the population began to decline. In 1961 the village was incorporated into Košík and at the same time came to Okres Nymburk . The community has existed again since 1990. A large part of the chalets in Seletice are now used as holiday homes.
