Chleby (German Chleb ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers northeast of Nymburk and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .

Chleby is located by the Chlebka brook on the Bohemian Table.
Neighboring towns are Oskořínek in the north, Nový Dvůr and Rozpakov in the northeast, Malý Vestec and Havransko in the east, Netřebice and Rašovice in the southeast, Draho and Šlotava in the south, Kovansko in the southwest, Bobnice in the west and Krchleby and Jíkev in the northwest.
history
The first written mention of Chleby was in 1292 when the village was bought by the Sedlec Monastery .
In the course of the raabization the village was enlarged in 1777. After the abolition of patrimonial Chleby formed from 1850 with the district Draho a political municipality in the Poděbrady district . In 1934 the community came to Okres Nymburk . In 1980 it was incorporated into Oskořínek . The community has existed again since 1992. In 1997 the first private zoo in the Czech Republic was opened in Chleby.

Attractions
- Catholic Church of St. Laurentius, the single-nave baroque building was built between 1780 and 1782
- Evangelical church, built in 1885 in neo-Romanesque style based on plans by Emil Prückner
- Chleby Zoo, the youngest zoological garden in the Czech Republic, was founded in 1997 by René Franěk. The private zoo has been a member of EARAZA since 2004 .
