history
The first written mention of the village, located on an old trade connection from Prague to Silesia , was in 1227 as the property of the Benedictine monastery of St. George at Prague Castle . In 1436 the village came under the Poděbrady rule and from 1495 it belonged to the Kolín rule .
After the abolition of patrimonial Odřepsy formed a municipality in the Poděbrady district from 1850 . On January 1, 1961, the community came to Okres Nymburk.
There is an archaeological site from Roman times near Odřepsy.
Place name
The origin of the bizarre place name is suspected to be that in the Middle Ages the inhabitants of Prague merchants traveling through Prague could have given them dogs as work animals.
