Starý Vestec (German Alt Westetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south of Lysá nad Labem and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .
geography
Starý Vestec is located at Kounický potok on the Bohemian table. The hill Břístevská hůra (240 m) rises southeast of the village, to the west the Rabakov (202 m) and to the north the Přerovská hůra (236 m) and Semická hůra (231 m). The D 11 / E 67 motorway passes to the south , Starý Vestec is located directly at exit 18 Bříství.
Neighboring towns are Nový Přerov in the north, Semice and Kersko in the north-east, Velenka in the east, Chrást and Horky in the south-east, Bříství in the south, Nový Dvůr in the south-west, Starý Dvůr, Mochov and Přerovská Obora in the west and Přerov nad Labem in the north-west.
history
Archaeological finds indicate that the area has been settled since the Ancient Bronze Age around 2300–2000 BC. Chr.
The first written mention of the village on the old trade connection from Prague to Poděbrady was made in 1320 as the property of the Břevnov monastery . During the Hussite Wars , the Prague people confiscated the goods in 1421 and sold them to Jan Jiranov. In 1437, Jindřich von Stráž received the village as a pledge and gave it to the Přerov nad Labem estate . After the Přerov chamberlain was sold off, Starý Vestec came to the Brandeis chamberlain in 1616 , to which it belonged until the patrimonial rule was abolished. In 1775 a peasant uprising broke out in the area, which spread to all rulers. Owners of the village were u. a. the imperial general building director Adam Philipp Losy von Losinthal and from 1860 Ludwig Salvator of Austria-Tuscany .
During the Second Coalition War, from 1799 to 1800, a part of the Petersburg Dragoons Regiment Schepelow, which belonged to the Suvorov Army, set up winter quarters near Starý Vestec . After the abolition of patrimonial, Český Brod formed a municipality in the Český Brod district from 1850 . During the German War in 1866 Prussian troops passed through the village en route to Prague. Since 1961 the community belongs to Okres Nymburk. between 1980 and 1990 Starý Vestec was incorporated into Semice . The cosmetics company CHOPA sro is based in Starý Vestec.

- Chapel of St. Wenceslas, built in 1861
- Ruins of the Chapel of Exaltation of the Cross on Břístevská hůra, the Baroque chapel built in 1714 burned down several times. It was restored after the fire of 1764. In 1818 it was destroyed again by fire and has been in ruins ever since.
