Chrást , until 1947 Manderšejd-Chrást (German Manderscheid-Chrast ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers northeast of Český Brod and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .

geography

Chrást is located in the headwaters of the Velenský potok on the Bohemian table. The hill Zálužník ( Kaunitzberg ; 285 m) rises to the southwest . The D 11 / European route 67 runs north of the village , the next exit 25 is at Sadská . In the northeast is the Kersko Nature Park.

Neighboring towns are Velenka in the north, Třebestovice in the east, Poříčany in the southeast, Klučov in the south, Kounice in the southwest, Horky in the west and Bříství and Starý Vestec in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village Chrást took place in 1345. The place probably went out during the Hussite Wars . In 1599 the desert farm Chrast belonging to the fortress Kounice was entered in the land table . A lordly sheep farm was built on the farm in the 17th century, which was probably given up at the beginning of the 18th century.

After Maria Theresa of Savoy, Princess of Liechtenstein, acquired the rule in 1760 , her heir, Franz Josef I of Liechtenstein, had the grounds of the former court parceled out in 1776 and the village of Chrast re-established. In 1799 Chrast consisted of six properties.

Alois Joseph I von Liechtenstein sold other less profitable areas to poor subjects who performed services on the Kaunitz estate and the Horka farm. This resulted in four more houses in Chrast. Most of the new settlers preferred a different terrain to the northwest. There was another settlement consisting of two rows of houses, which was named Manderscheid in honor of his wife Karoline von Manderscheid-Blankenheim .

After the abolition of patrimonial Manderscheid / Manderšejd and Chrast formed from 1850 localities of the municipality Kounice in the district of Český Brod . After both settlements had grown together at the end of the 19th century, the two localities were merged to form the village of Manderšejd-Chrást. In 1894, the road from Poříčany to Manderšejd-Chrást was expanded into a road. In 1921 the municipality of Manderšejd-Chrást was established. This was renamed Chrást in 1947 and came to Okres Nymburk in 1961 .

On June 15th the village celebrates the St. Vitus procession and on the first Sunday in November the fair takes place. There are several sand pits to the east of Chrást.
