Semice (German Semitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers southeast of Lysá nad Labem and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .
geography
Semice is located on the left bank of the Elbe at the foot of the Semická hůra hill (231 m) on the East Bohemian Table. To the west rises the Přerovská hůra (236 m), to the northwest lies the nature reserve Vrť. To the east are the remains of Mydlovar Castle and the menhir of Kersko. The Kersko Nature Park extends to the southeast.
Neighboring towns are Ostrá in the north, Šnepov in the northeast, Hradištko in the east, Kersko in the southeast, Velenka and Starý Vestec in the south, Mochov in the southwest, Přerov nad Labem and Nový Přerov in the west and Tři Chaloupky and Litol in the northwest.
history
The village was first mentioned in writing in 1352. Originally the village consisted of a few houses grouped around a small church. There were two festivals near Semice that went out in the 15th century.
After the abolition of patrimonial Semice formed a municipality in the Český Brod district from 1850 . After the First World War, the Kerskowald became a popular recreational area for the Prague upper class. A holiday home area was built in the forest. Since 1961 the community belongs to Okres Nymburk.
