The Cidlina (German Zidlina ) is one of the large rivers in the Okres Jičín ( Královéhradecký kraj , Czech Republic ).
The river has its source with several headwaters on the western slopes of Mount Tábor . The longest source river has its source in the fields of Košov at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. More well-known, however, is the tributary that springs directly from Mount Tábor (535 meters above sea level) and feeds the small lake below the mountain with water.
At the beginning the water flows through the hilly landscape of the Giant Mountains , surrounded by forests. The first place Cidlina flows through is Pekloves . A few more villages follow before the water leaves the mountains and continues through Jičín before reaching the Kolín plain . On its relatively long route, the river feeds some ponds and artificial water catchment basins, such as the 300-hectare Žehuňský rybník, which was created in 1492 by Štěpán Netolický . At Libněves the Sánský kanál branches off , which today flows into the Mrlina and was created in the 15th century to feed the Bláto fish pond.
The total length of the river is 89.7 kilometers. Not far from the municipality of Libice nad Cidlinou it flows out at an altitude of 187 m above sea level. M. in the Elbe .
