history

Řečany was probably founded in the middle of the 12th century. A pagan sacrificial and burial site is said to have been on the hill above the Elbe meanders on which the church was built. On November 14, 1165, the Prague bishop Daniel consecrated St. Mary's Church in the presence of King Vladislav II , Queen Judith , courtiers from Bohemia, Bavaria and Thuringia, the castellan Predbok of Čáslav as the founder of the church and three Cistercians from the Sedletz Abbey , who founded the church Took over patronage over the church. The king equipped the church with noble robes and measuring utensils.

The first written mention of Řečňany took place in 1289. Over time, the village was named wurdeečeňany , Řečejany , Řečjany and finally Řečany . On October 24, 1407, the church was opened by Bishop Wenceslaus Nikopolsky St. Mary Magdalene newly consecrated. Since the 15th century teečany belonged to the royal estate of Zdechovice. In 1515, the rule of Zdechovice with the villages of Zdechovice, Telčice, Chvaletice, Trnávka, Řečany, Labětín and Spytovice came in the course of a settlement with Zdeniek Lev von Rosental to these as a debt settlement . In 1722 Karl Josef Graf von Paar bought the Zdechovicer estates from Leopold von Věžník. In 1737 the Zdechovic pastor Prohaska found a lead container with relics and a Latin script, which Bishop Daniel had buried there during the church consecration, under an altar stone of the church. After the toleration patent was issued in 1781, an evangelical congregation was formed in Řečany, which belonged to the Trnávka pastorate. In 1823 a wooden driving bridge was built over the Elbe for the Kladrub farm stud at the Fischerhütte.

In 1835, the in consisted Chrudim District village located Řetschan even recan or Řečany called out 60 houses, where 355 people lived. The inhabitants were almost exclusively Protestants; 60 families were of the Augsburg Confession , another 13 families were Reformed . There was a Catholic branch church of St. Maria Magdalena and an inn. A single-layer fisherman's house was on the Elbe at the pedestrian crossing, next to it was the driving bridge of the Kladrub stud farm . The Catholic parish was Zdechowitz , the Protestant pastorate was in Trnawka . Until the middle of the 19th century, Řetschan remained subject to the allodial property Zdechowitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Řečany formed from 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Přelauč . From 1868 the village belonged to the Pardubice district . In 1881 the municipalities of Řečany and Labětín agreed to build a joint school, which was opened in April 1883. The official name of the municipality was changed to Řečany nad Labem in 1924 . In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Přelouč. This was repealed in the course of the territorial reform of 1960, since then Řečany nad Labem belongs to the Okres Pardubice. In 1961 Labětín and Trnávka were incorporated. Trnávka broke away from Řečany nad Labem at the beginning of 1993 and formed its own municipality.
