history

The area was settled by Eastern Charvates in the 10th century. The border point of the settlement areas of the Slavic tribes of the Czechs , Zlitschanen and Chorvaten was on the Elbe . It is believed that Bohdaneč was founded during this period and the name is derived from a locator Bohdan .

The first documentary mention was made in 1343 on the occasion of a scuffle between the pastor and the citizen Kříž, in which an altar panel of the church was broken. At that time, the owners of the place were the Lords of Cimburg . In 1377 Albrecht sold by Cimburg on Blatník the parties Blatník with the town and the villages Bohdaneč Bystřec, Rybitví , Černá u Bohdanče and Lhotka Blatníkovská the Opatovicky Abt Jan of Orle. After the Benedictine monastery was destroyed during the Hussite Wars in 1421, King Sigismund Bohdaneč, together with other former monastery villages, signed a pledge to Diviš Bořek von Miletínek , who formed the Kunburg domain . After Wilhelm von Pernstein bought the Kunburg estate on January 8, 1491 , the town began to flourish. Pernstein granted the place several privileges that promoted craft and trade. Fishing became a particular economic focus. Wilhelm von Pernstein had 44 fish ponds built in the Elbe lowlands around Bohdaneč. A large part of it was given up again by the 19th century. This includes the large Rozkoš pond on the eastern edge of the village, of which only dams are evidence of its existence. The Bohdanečský rybník also lost about half of its area through siltation.

After the abolition of patrimonial Bohdaneč formed a municipality in the Pardubice district . In 1897 Jan Veselý opened a mud bath. In the first year Veselý treated 70 patients. In 1907 Veselý established the first public bus service in Bohemia. On behalf of Veselý, a Laurin & Klement bus regularly drove bathers from Pardubice to the Bochdanetsch mud bath. In 1950 the community was assigned to the Okres Pardubice-okolí. After its dissolution, Bohdaneč came back to Okres Pardubice on January 1, 1961.

In 1963 Bohdaneč received the status of a health resort . In 1971 Bohdaneč was raised to the rank of town. Since March 1, 1980, the town of Bohdaneč has been called Lázně Bohdaneč ( Lázně means about health resort or spa ). Between 1976 and 1990 Křičeň was incorporated.

The local football club AFK Atlantic Lázně Bohdaneč succeeded in the 1990s promotion from the 8th league to the Gambrinus League , where he was relegated again after the 1997/98 season. At the end of August 2013, the European women's and U21 fistball championships were held on the local sports field . At the beginning of July 2018, the sports stadium was again the venue for a fistball competition, this time the EFA European Cup for men .
