Choir fathers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chorvaten (Czech Chorvati , Latin Chrovati ) were a West Slavic tribe in northern Bohemia in the 9th and 10th centuries.

Mentions

The choir fathers were mentioned only three times in historical sources. Alfred the Great wrote about Hrvati west of the Daleminzer around the year 890 . The Chronica Boemorum named an area of the choir fathers in which the Bohemian princess Drahomíra sought refuge after her expulsion from Prague. In a border description of the diocese of Prague from 1086, which probably reflects the state of its foundation in 973, Chrovati et altera Chrovati are mentioned.

area

Alfred the Great called them east of the Daleminzer (on the Elbe around Lommatzsch). In the border description they were named between Pschowanen (around Mělník) and Slensanen (on the Upper Oder in Silesia). So they probably settled in an area south of the Sudetes in northern Bohemia.
