Holice ( German  Holitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located 16 kilometers east of Pardubice and belongs to the Okres Pardubice .

history

In 1336 the place was first mentioned in a document under the German place name Ekleinsdorf . Other names were Eckleinsdorf and Helitz . When it was founded as a Waldhufendorf, the place was part of the German-speaking Ostpardubitz language island that existed in pre-Hussite times. It belonged to the Chvojnov estate and was owned by King John of Luxembourg . In the 15th century there was already talk of a town, which burned out a short time later because of the wooden construction that was widespread there. The town hall remained standing, but was destroyed in 1945.

One of the most important owners of the city was Naptalim von Frimburg ( z Frimburka ), whose father had acquired the city in 1481. Naphtalim exempted the inhabitants from taxes and compulsory labor, the city judges were given complete freedom in their decisions, he gave the city the right to brew and had a city bath built.

After his death, in 1493, Holice received Hynek Bradlecký von Mečkov, who gave it further privileges. In 1507 it came to Wilhelm II von Pernstein .
