history

The first written mention of the place took place in 1383. Urbanice was at that time the seat of the Vladiken von Urbanitz, who also owned a part of Hošťalovice and the Stoupec fortress . In addition, the Bohemian kings had rights in Urbanice. At the end of the 14th century the village consisted of three farms, one of which was later a fortress . When King Wenceslaus IV wanted to transfer his rights to Urbanice to his master chefs Peter and Jesin in 1411 , this did not materialize because of the protest by Nikolaus von Urbanitz. King George of Podebrady transferred the estate , which had fallen back after the vanishing of the Vladiken family of Urbanitz, to the Slavata von Chlum in 1467 , who connected it with their Podhořan estate . The Feste Urbanice lost its importance as a manor and fell into disrepair. Diviš Slavata von Chlum and Koschumberg sold the Podhořan estate with all accessories in 1541 to Johann von Gersdorff , who attached it to his Choltitz reign . In 1568 the brothers Georg and Hendrich von Gersdorff shared the Podhořan and Svojšice estates . Hendrich received Podhořan; Urbanice was added to the Svojšice estate, which Georg von Gersdorff († 1612) kept for himself on Choltitz. After Georg's death, Urbanice was separated from the Svojšice estate and assigned to the Svinčany estate, which had fallen to Bernard Niklas von Gersdorff . After the Battle of the White Mountain , the Svinčany estate was confiscated in 1623 because Bernard Niklas von Gersdorff, like his brother Stephan, had participated in the Bohemian uprising . The Svinčany estate was sold to Christoph Simon von Thun , who had also acquired the Choltitz estate and reunited the two. The imperial counts of Thun and Hohenstein elevated the Choltitz rule to a family fideikommiss and held the property until the 20th century. In 1672 Urbanice consisted of three farms and three chalets. In 1788 the village had grown to eleven houses, the center was a large round meadow with a pond.

In 1833 the village of Orbanitz , situated in the Chrudim district on the border with the Caslav district, consisted of 28 houses in which 183 people, including a Protestant family, lived. The parish was in Lipoltitz . Until the middle of the 19th century Orbanitz remained subject to the Fideikommissherrschaft Choltitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Urbanice formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Lipoltice in the judicial district of Přelauč . From 1868 the village belonged to the Pardubice district . In the 1890s Urbanice broke away from Lipoltice and formed its own municipality. In 1949 Urbanice was assigned to the Okres Přelouč. This was lifted in the course of the territorial reform of 1960, since then the village belongs to Okres Pardubice. Between 1950 and 1952, most of the pond in the village square was filled. The road around the village green was paved in 1974 and provided with a sidewalk. In 1985 the former inn was reconstructed to become a municipal office. At the beginning of 1986 it was incorporated into Choltice . Urbanice has existed again since November 24, 1990.
