Dolní Čermná [ ˈdɔlɲiː ˈtʃɛrmnaː ] (German Niedertscherma , 1939–1945 also Bohemian Rothwasser ) is a minority town in the Czech Republic . It is eight kilometers north of Landskron at the foot of the Eagle Mountains at an altitude of 398 to 528 m. ü. M.

history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1304. However, it was probably established as early as the 13th century under the rule of King Ottokar II Přemysl , when he had the border areas colonized. On May 21, 1304 King Wenceslas II handed over the lands to the monastery in Königsaal , including the town of Rottenwasser ( Čermná in Czech ). In 1358 it was handed over to the Archdiocese of Leitomischl , the village then called itself Rufa Aqua .

After the Hussite Wars , Messrs Kostka von Postupice took over the property and had the 60 hectare pond built in 1450. In 1507 Čermná belonged to the Pernstein family , who sold it to Adam Hrzan von Harasov in 1588 . After his death, his sons inherited the property, but were suspected of having taken part in the uprising, and before the property was confiscated, they sold it to the Lords of Liechtenstein , who kept it until the revolutionary year 1848. In 1873 Čermná was elevated to a market town, at that time 3,100 inhabitants lived here. In 1936 the village was divided into the Protestant Upper Čermná and the Catholic Lower Čermná. Although hardly any German residents lived in the villages, it was added to the Sudetenland . In the 1960s, the Jakubovice settlement was incorporated. Since September 17th, 2009 Dolní Čermná has the status of Městys .
