Karel Boromejský Cardinal Kašpar (born May 16, 1870 in Mirošov u Rokycan , Bohemia , †  April 21, 1941 in Prague ) was Bishop of Königgrätz and Archbishop of Prague .

Life

Karel Kašpar studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Pilsen and Rome . On February 25, 1893 he received the sacrament of ordination and then worked as a pastor in Svojšín . After completing further studies, he was pastor and cathedral chapter from 1899 to 1920 at the Prague Metropolitan Chapter .

Pope Benedict XV appointed him in 1920 titular bishop of Bethsaida and auxiliary bishop in Königgrätz . He was ordained bishop on April 11, 1920 by the then Archbishop of Prague, František Kordač . A year later he became Bishop of Königgrätz.

Pope Pius XI In 1931 he made him head of the Archdiocese of Prague and accepted him on December 16, 1935 as a cardinal priest with the titular church Santi Vitale, Valeria, Gervasio e Protasio in the College of Cardinals . Karel Cardinal Kašpar took part in the 1939 conclave . He died in Prague on April 21, 1941 and was buried in St. Vitus Cathedral.
