Liesl Löwinger , also Lisl Löwinger ; actually Elisabeth Meinhard (born January 11, 1918 in Graz , Styria , † October 15, 1980 in Vienna ) was an Austrian folk actress and comedian .

Life

Elisabeth Meinhard had trained at the Graz Conservatory and had joined the family-owned theater stage, which he directed, through her marriage to the popular actor Paul Löwinger in 1938. With a compact appearance, Liesl Löwinger was used as a 'drastic comedian'. On the stage as well as in film and television productions, she embodied solid, down-to-earth women from the people with a strong älpic influence.

Her characters were called Mirzl, Zenzi, Kathi, Leni and Mitzi and with their coarse appearance and way of acting they regularly caused laughter. After two decades of working in front of the camera, Liesl Löwinger retired into private life in 1970 and took care of her family from then on. The children Sissy , Guggi and Paul junior came from his marriage to Paul Löwinger . .
