Paul Löwinger junior

Paul Löwinger junior (born June 28, 1949 in Vienna ; † April 18, 2009 ) was an Austrian writer, director, actor and theater director.

Training and film

Paul Löwinger Jr. came from one of the oldest theater families in Austria, the actor dynasty Löwinger , and was the son of folk actors Liesl and Paul Löwinger . As early as 1954 he stood next to Liane Haid and Rudolf Carl in the film The Five Rabbits in front of the camera. From 1955 to 1968 he was a student at the French Lyceum in Vienna . In 1968 he completed his Baccalaureate with a mention. After briefly studying journalism at the University of Vienna, he moved to Munich, where he worked as a press officer and production assistant at Lisa Film .

In 1969 he had a film role alongside Ernst Waldbrunn .

From 1971 to 1988 he was managing director of Löwinger-Bühne Ges.nbR together with his father Paul Löwinger (senior), from 1989 to 1995 together with his sister Sissy Löwinger . From 1985 to the end of 2005 he was managing director of Löwinger Bühne Ges.mbH, from 1989 together with Sissy Löwinger. On December 31, 2005, Paul Löwinger junior resigned from the management of Löwinger Bühne Ges.mbH.

In 1973 he directed Graf Schorschi , a joint production by ORF and ZDF , which was one of the two most-watched theater programs of that year and which was highly praised by the German press, especially the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Another 34 TV productions followed.

Paul Löwinger jun. wrote adaptations and created new versions of 17 theater pieces that were shown as productions of the ORF and ZDF. He wrote five of his own plays under a pseudonym, which were performed and broadcast on television.

From 1977 to 1978 he also worked as a translator from French, creating the template for HC Artmann's adaptation of the "Florentine hat" at the Vienna Burgtheater.

In 1989 he married the well-known Austrian model Irma Tillinger , who was already a young girl together with Paul Löwinger sen. occurred. After a guest performance in the Simpl cabaret , she became a permanent member of the Löwinger stage ensemble until 1992.

author

From 1996 Paul Löwinger jun. primarily as an author. In 2000 his first novel Das Lied des Troubadours was published by Krüger Verlag, Frankfurt. The historical novel Das Siegel der Liebe followed in autumn 2003 and in spring 2006 the first volume of a Norman trilogy, The Vow of the Normans . The publication of the second volume of the trilogy, The Emperor's Coat of Arms, was announced for 2009 . Before that, however, Löwinger died after illness.

Paul Löwinger jun. was buried in the Grinzinger Friedhof (group 28, row 2, number 4) in Vienna.
