Life

Joseph Sepp 'Maier grave originally wanted cabinetmaker be, but his mother took him to the theater. In 1922 he joined the Löwinger stage and initially served the family as a carpenter and driver. Finally Grabmaier took on the name Löwinger and became part of this family of actors. He was quickly committed to weird and bizarre, gnarled types and thus filled the subject of the 'drastic comedian'.

At the end of November 1934, Sepp Löwinger, who was usually called Pepi Löwinger when he was young, played the main role of the large farmer Sepp Großlechner in the short confusion about the two Stoffl for the first time in front of a cinema camera , four years later (1938) the first play was performed in Berlin with the Löwinger troop broadcast on German television. Only regularly active in film after the Second World War, Löwinger embodied a wealth of roles. Mostly he played original originals, in addition to alpine farmers, there were also lots of subordinate types such as servants, porters, tailors, gardeners and postmen. He was often supported by the other members of the Löwinger troupe, including Paul , Gretl and Liesl . Although the oldest of the Löwingers, Sepp Löwinger remained active the longest and was still involved in a television production at the age of 85. His grave is in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 42F, row 11, number 3).
