Peter August Rapp (born February 14, 1944 in Vienna ) is an Austrian television presenter .

Life

Peter Rapp was a member of the Vienna Boys 'Choir since 1954 and later the Vienna Woods Boys' Choir . After high school he volunteered for 15 months for military service , where he was deployed in the 33rd Panzer Battalion and held the rank of corporal in disarming. He then started working as a journalist for Viennese daily newspapers and sang rock 'n' roll on suburban stages . In March 1963 he had his first TV appearance as a cabaret artist in the show "Teenagerparty" hosted by Willy Kralik . In the same year he also worked as an extra in the six-time Oscar - nominated film Der Kardinal , directed by Otto Preminger . He graduated from the Krauss drama school and began on October 1, 1967 as a radio announcer for Ö3 . He continued to work as a cabaret artist until 1968.

In March 1968 he switched to ORF television, where he hosted the youth pop program Spotlight from 1968 to 1978 . From 1979 to 1983 Rapp was also employed as a presenter for ZDF , ARD and Europa Welle Saar . In 1997 and 1999 he received the Golden Romy as the most popular show master.

Peter Rapp was married three times - with Sylvia Dönch , Sissy Löwinger and Gaby Wachtler and is the father of three children Christopher, Rebecca (* 1990) and Roxanne Rapp (* 1993). In 1997 Rapp had to file for personal bankruptcy. His gambling addiction also came up in his trial, in which he was sentenced to a conditional sentence .

In 2012, Peter Rapp took over the jury seat in the second season of the television program Die große Chance , which Bernhard Paul previously held. For his participation he was honored as the most popular show presenter at the 2013 Romy Awards. Also in 2013 he was involved in the third season of the Great Chance .

On the night of September 24, 2013, Rapp suffered a heart attack. After deploying a stent , he was back on stage on October 3rd.

He grew up in the first district of Vienna and reported about it in the ORF documentary " Meine Innere Stadt " (2017).
