Sébastien Haller (born June 22, 1994 in Ris-Orangis ) is a French football player . The striker is under contract with West Ham United .

Club career

2003–2012: Beginnings in the youth

Haller, who, as the son of a French father and an Ivorian mother, has both French and Ivorian citizenship, began playing football in the northern French region of Île-de-France in the youth of the FCO Vigneux and CS Brétigny Football clubs. In 2007 he moved to the then French first division club AJ Auxerre , whose youth teams he went through until 2012.

2012–2014: First professional assignments in Auxerre

In June 2011 Haller signed his first professional contract with AJ Auxerre. After another year in youth, he rose to the 2012/13 season in the professional team coached by Jean-Guy Wallemme . In the 2-0 win over Olympique Nîmes on July 27, 2012 Haller made his Ligue 2 debut and provided the template to make it 2-0 in the 58th minute. He scored his first competitive goal on March 1, 2013 in a 2-1 defeat by AC Arles-Avignon , when he put his team 1-0 ahead in the 27th minute. In the 2013/14 season Haller played 25 league games on the field and scored 4 goals. In the first half of the following season he came to eight missions in which he failed to score.

2015–2017: Regular player at FC Utrecht

At the beginning of 2015 Haller was loaned to FC Utrecht until the end of the season, where he immediately became a regular player. He made his debut in the Eredivisie on January 18, 2015 in the 1: 2 loss to SC Heerenveen ; he scored his first four goals just under a month later in a 6-1 home win against FC Dordrecht . At the end of the season Haller had 11 goals in 17 games and he was signed by FC Utrecht for four years. In the 2015/16 season Haller was in the starting eleven in 33 championship games and helped his team to reach fifth place in the final table with 17 goals . In addition, he reached the national cup final with the team , which was lost on April 24, 2016 1: 2 against Feyenoord Rotterdam . Haller was honored with the "Di Tommaso Trophy" as Player of the Year 2015 by the Utrecht fans. In the 2016/17 season he was again the top scorer of his team with 13 goals in 32 league games.

2017–2019: Breakthrough in Frankfurt

For the 2017/18 season Haller moved to the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . There he signed a contract in mid-May 2017 with a term until June 30, 2021. Haller scored his first competitive goal for Frankfurt on August 12, 2017 in a 3-0 win against TuS Erndtebrück in the first main round of the 2017 DFB Cup / 18 . His first Bundesliga goal followed with the only goal in the 1-0 away win against 1. FC Köln on September 20, 2017. National team career

In June 2010, Haller played a game for the French U16 national team in a friendly against Germany and then went through all the junior national teams of the French Football Association . In total, he played 51 times for youth teams and scored 25 goals.

With the U17 national team Haller took part in the U17 European Championship 2011 in Serbia and failed with his team in the group stage . A month later he was also part of the French squad at the U17 World Cup in Mexico and reached the quarter-finals with his team .

Haller most recently played 20 times in the U21 national team from 2013 to 2016 , for which he made his debut on November 14, 2013 in a 6-0 win over the Armenian U21 national team and also scored his first goal. In total, he scored 13 times in 20 games for the U21s.
