Awards

adidas Golden Ball

All three awards in this category went to players from world champions Mexico: The "Golden Ball" for the best player went to Julio Gómez . The "Silver Ball" went to Jorge Espericueta and the "Bronze Ball" to Carlos Fierro .

adidas Golden Shoe

The Ivorian Souleymane Coulibaly , who scored nine of the ten goals of his team, won the "Golden Shoe" for the tournament's best goalscorer. With his nine goals in just four games, he also equalized the previous record of the Frenchman Florent Sinama-Pongolle , who, however, needed six games. The "Silver Shoe" went to the German Samed Yesil and the "Bronze Shoe" to the Brazilian Adryan . Since three players had scored five goals each, the number of assists and the minutes played decided the ranking.

adidas Golden Glove

The Uruguayan Jonathan Cubero (Mathías Cubero) was awarded the "Golden Glove" for the best goalkeeping performance.

FIFA Fair Play Award

The Japanese U-17 team won the "FIFA Fair Play Prize".

Out of 208 doping samples taken , 109 were positive for clenbuterol . Players from 19 teams were affected. This had no consequences for the players, however, because the finding was attributed to contaminated Mexican meat.
