Mirco Born (born June 28, 1994 in Haren ) is a German football player .

Club career

The regular right winger grew up in Rütenbrock - a district of Haren (Ems) bordering the Netherlands - and played for the local VfL Rütenbrock as a child. He then played for two years at SV Meppen and was part of the U-15 team of the Lower Saxony Football Association before moving from Emsland to the youth team at FC Twente in Enschede in July 2008. As a youth he was voted the best tournament player as the top scorer at an international tournament in Groenlo . He himself saw his strengths in his speed and ability to work in a team. In the 2011/12 season the A-youth trained at times already with the second team Jong FC Twente coach Patrick Kluivert and was appointed by the club in the squad for the Champions League, but was no match minute with the seniors.

After reaching the age of majority, Born was a permanent part of Jong FC Twente's squad in the 2012/13 season . He made his debut in the first team two weeks after his 18th birthday on July 12, 2012 in the second leg of the first qualifying round for the UEFA Europa League against Andorran representatives UE Santa Coloma . On September 2, 2012 Born came in the fourth matchday against VVV-Venlo as a substitute for his first appearance in the Eredivisie. He was substituted on in the 81st minute for Luc Castaignos . Twente won 1-0; the winning goal came in stoppage time from a penalty from Leroy Fer after Venlo's center-back Ismo Vorstermans fouled Born.

In 2014 Born was initially awarded to FC Viktoria Köln and then switched to the second representative of Bundesliga club Hertha BSC for the 2014/15 season . For the 2015/16 season he was signed by SV Meppen . With Meppen he became champion of the Regionalliga Nord in the 2016/17 season and rose to the 3rd division. For the 2017/18 season Born moved to the second division club SV Sandhausen , where he received a three-year contract. Before the season started, Born suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in a test match and was then unable to play in the second division. He played for the SVS reserve in the Oberliga and after a year returned to SV Meppen on loan for the third division season 2018/19 , for whom the midfielder only appeared seven times.

After his return, Born took part in Sandhausen's preparation for the season, but moved permanently to the regional league team FSV Frankfurt in mid-July 2019 .

National team

Starting with the U15 national team, he regularly took part in DFB courses. He made his international debut on August 14, 2009 in the U16 international match against Switzerland on the occasion of a tournament in Liechtenstein. At the U17 World Cup in Mexico in 2011, Born was the second youngest player in the German team of coach Steffen Freund , who finished third. He was used in two games. Overall, he scored a goal in nine games for the U17 selection . In addition, he wore the DFB jersey in 15 other youth encounters of the respective age groups, including twice in the U18 team of coach Christian Ziege in 2012 .
