The 2016/17 season of the Regionalliga Nord was the ninth season of the regional soccer league as the fourth highest division in Germany.
It began on July 31, 2016 and ended on May 20, 2017 with the 34th matchday. From December 5, 2016 to February 4, 2017, it was interrupted by the winter break.

Promotion and relegation regulation
Promotion to the 3rd division
Master SV Meppen was qualified for participation in the promotion games to the 3rd soccer league and was able to achieve promotion to the 3rd league there.
Relegation from the Regionalliga Nord
The three teams in places 16, 17 and 18 of the Regionalliga Nord will be relegated at the end of the season. Since SV Meppen was promoted and there was no relegated from the NFV area of the 3rd division in 2016/17 , only the 17th and 18th were relegated.
