Regionalliga Nord 2016/17
3rd league 2017/18

The 2017/18 season of the Regionalliga Nord was the tenth season of the regional football league as the fourth-highest division in Germany.

It began on July 28, 2017 with the game VfB Lübeck against VfB Oldenburg (2-0) and should end on May 13, 2018. From December 17, 2017 to February 4, 2018, the season was interrupted by a winter break. Due to a record number of weather-related cancellations of scheduled games, the season was extended to May 16, 2018 with catch-up games.

Venues of the Regionalliga Nord 2017/18

The following teams qualified for the Regionalliga Nord 2017/18:

Promotion and relegation regulation

Promotion to the 3rd division

Master Weiche Flensburg was athletically qualified for the promotion round to the 3rd soccer league . But he could not prevail against the champions of the Regionalliga Nordost, Energie Cottbus and remained after a 2: 3 home game defeat and a 0: 0 in Cottbus in the Regionalliga Nord.

Relegation from the Regionalliga Nord

As a rule, exactly the three teams in places 16, 17 and 18 of the Regionalliga Nord would have been relegated at the end of the season. Because the champions of the Regionalliga Nord missed promotion to the 3rd division and there was a relegated SV Werder Bremen II from the 3rd division from the Regionalliga Nord area, the number of relegated teams increased to four. Besides the three teams in places 16, 17 and 18, the 15th should have been relegated. However, since the first team of Eintracht Braunschweig was relegated from the second to the third division, Eintracht Braunschweig II had to be fourth from the regional league because of the regulation that a club may not have a team in the third division and in the regional league at the same time Descend north.
