The 2017/18 season of the Regionalliga Nordost was the sixth season of the regional football league as the fourth-highest division in Germany. It began on July 29, 2017 with the derby of BSG Chemie Leipzig against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig (0: 1) and ended on May 12, 2018.

Season course

Energie Cottbus was already the champion and participant in the relegation games to the 3rd league after the 31st match day . The third division relegated from 2016 suffered only one defeat (1: 2 against ZFC Meuselwitz ) and with 89 points set the previous record of Sportfreunde Lotte (83) since the introduction of the five-track regional league. Energie Cottbus prevailed in the promotion games against SC Weiche Flensburg 08 , whereby the fifteenth, VSG Altglienicke , remained in the league.

Relegation from the Regionalliga Nordost

Normally two clubs are relegated. A maximum of five teams are relegated. The exact number depends on the number of relegated players from the 3rd league in 2017/18 and on whether the regional league champions make it through the qualifying games. The following scheme applies:
