Football Association Cup 2017/18

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The participants of the 21 regional associations of the DFB in the DFB-Pokal 2018/19 are determined via the football association cup 2017/18 . The winners of the association cups are entitled to participate in the first round of the DFB Cup. The three associations with the largest number of members, Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Westphalia, are also sending a second participant. This means that 24 amateur clubs qualify for the national cup competition, 22 of them via the association cups. The second teams of the professional clubs (1st and 2nd Bundesliga) are not allowed to participate in the DFB-Pokal.

In Lower Saxony, in addition to the cup winners, the defeated cup finalist qualifies for the DFB Cup, in Bavaria the best team in the 2017/18 regional league season - unless it is the second team of a professional club - in addition to the winner of the association cup for the first Main round of the DFB-Pokal, in Westphalia this is, with the same restriction as in Bavaria, the winning team of the qualifying game between the champions of Oberliga Westfalen 2017/18 and the best Westphalian team of Regionalliga West 2017/18 .

The finals of the national cups 2017/18 were played on Monday, May 21, 2018 (Whit Monday) again on the so-called "Amateurs Final Day". ARD broadcast all final matches live in three consecutive conferences.

1The three state associations with the most men's teams in play (Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Westphalia) have two starting places. In addition to the cup winner, either the defeated cup finalist (Lower Saxony), the top-ranked regional league team (Bavaria) or the winner of a qualifying game of the best-placed Westphalian team in the Regionalliga West ( SV Rödinghausen ) at the champions of the Oberliga Westfalen ( SV Lippstadt 08 ) (Westphalia) on May 31 (Corpus Christi).
2Since SC Paderborn 07, 1. FC Magdeburg and Karlsruher SC had already qualified for the DFB Cup via the 3rd league , the final opponents TuS Erndtebrück, 1. FC Lok Stendal and 1. CfR Pforzheim had already qualified in advance.
3 The Karlsruher SC did not play with the third division team, but with players from the second team and youth players, as they had to play a promotion game to the second division the next day
