The SV Alemannia Waldalgesheim is a sports club from the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Waldalgesheim . The club was founded in 1910 by 15 men and today has several departments, such as football , basketball , tennis and aerobics . The association also offers mother-child gymnastics, children 's gymnastics and jazz dance .
history
The first department head of the association was Johann Kemmerle. Heinrich Jung, the first cashier in the club and whose bar served as a club house, helped the club out by making a meadow available and working on it so that games could be played there. After the club had played several successful years in amateur football, the game was stopped shortly after the beginning of the First World War .
Shortly after the end of the war, a new team could be formed and registered with the DFB . The club leased a place in the Genheim district and played its games there. In the 1926/27 season, the club was unbeaten champions of the district class C, rose to the B class and made it through to the district league A only one season later.
In 1930, after long negotiations, the club was able to find a new venue for their games. In 1935, on the 25th anniversary of the club, a friendly match against Hassia Bingen took place, which the club lost 4-0. After a temporary relegation to the C-class, the club rose again to the B-class in the 1937/38 season through a win in the decider against VfR Simmern. With the beginning of the Second World War , the first team had to stop playing again, whereby the youth team - under difficult conditions - could continue to play football.
In 1946 a team was formed again, with the name Alemannia banned in the occupation zone . In the 1947/48 season, the club rose to the district league Nahe. In the game year 1949/50 the club was reclassified from the Nahe district to the Rheinhessen district.
After further relegations or promotions, the club appeared in the 2008/09 season for the first time in the Oberliga Südwest , which was the fourth highest division in Germany before the introduction of the new league system.
In 2010 the club celebrated its centenary.
In May 2014, Alemannia won the Südwestpokal with a 1-0 victory in the final against regional league team SVN Zweibrücken and qualified for the first main round of the DFB Cup . As an opponent, the Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen was drawn, which they lost 6-0. The club was relegated to the association league in 2014 and only narrowly missed immediate resurgence the following year.
