The SpVgg Ingelheim (officially: Spielvereinigung Ingelheim 1923 eV ) is a sports club from Ingelheim am Rhein in the Mainz-Bingen district . The first soccer team played for four years in the then fourth-class Oberliga Südwest .

history

On December 15, 1913, the original cell of today's club was founded with FC Schwarze Elf Nieder-Ingelheim . In 1919 the club name was changed to SV Schwarze Elf Nieder-Ingelheim and on November 14, 1924 to 1. Ingelheimer SV . On April 15, 1923, the SpVgg Ober-Ingelheim was founded, which merged on January 17, 1935 with the Black Elf from Nieder-Ingelheim to form SpVgg 1913/23 Ingelheim . Around 1937 the club name was shortened to SpVgg 1923 Ingelheim . With the end of the Second World War , the association was dissolved and re-established on July 13, 1946.

Soccer

The game association was one of the founding members of the amateur league Rheinhessen in 1947 and secured the championship two years later. In the following round of promotion to the Oberliga Südwest , however, it was only enough for last place. In 1954 the team was runner-up in the Southwest Amateur League and took part in the German Amateur Championship . There the SpVgg lost in the playoff for the group victory of the Spvgg. 03 Neu-Isenburg with 0: 2. Three years later, the Ingelheimer relegated and in 1961 had to accept relegation from the 2nd amateur league.

The rise was only possible in 1968. After a number of runner-up championships, the SpVgg returned in 1985 to the top division of the national association, which is now known as the Association League Southwest . The decline in 1997 could be compensated immediately and in 2001 the promotion to the Oberliga Südwest succeeded. There, SpVgg reached its sporting zenith in the 2002/03 season with ninth place. Two years later , the descent followed due to the poor goal difference compared to SpVgg EGC Wirges . In the following ten years, the Ingelheimers played in the Verbandsliga Südwest, before they had to accept another relegation to the regional league after the 2015/16 season and were passed through to the district league in 2017.

Futsal

The SpVgg Ingelheim futsal team took part in the DFB Futsal Cup in 2008 and 2009 . At both events, however, the team did not get beyond the group stage.
