Manfred "Moppes" Petz (born May 5, 1961 in Mainz ) is a German football official and football coach and former football goalkeeper . Most recently he was goalkeeping coach at Eintracht Frankfurt .
The 1.78 m tall goalkeeper began his career in the youth of FVgg Kastel 06. In 1978 he moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 , for which he played a total of 42 games in the 2. Bundesliga until 1995 . From 1996 to 1997 he was in goal at SV Wehen and took over the coaching position in the following season.
From 1998 Petz worked primarily as a goalkeeping coach, first at Eintracht Frankfurt and from 2000 onwards at the Stuttgarter Kickers . In 2003 he was a coach at SpVgg Ingelheim for a short time . After positions as goalkeeping coach at Fortuna Düsseldorf (2004 to 2005), SV Eintracht Trier (2006) and SV 07 Elversberg (2007 to 2008), he became the coach of the second team at VfL Wolfsburg in 2008 . In 2011, Eintracht Frankfurt signed him again as goalkeeping coach under head coach Armin Veh . When the new coach Thomas Schaaf brought his own goalkeeping coach with Michael Kraft in 2014 , Petz was meanwhile put into scouting for Eintracht. With the return of coach Armin Veh for the 2015/16 season, he returned to his post as goalkeeping coach. Shortly after the start of the second half of the 2019/20 season , the contract with Petz was terminated after an end of his engagement was originally planned at the end of the season.
