Michael Kraft (born April 23, 1966 in Dernbach ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player . He was a goalkeeper and played 27 Bundesliga games in goal for 1. FC Köln . He worked as a goalkeeping coach for a long time under Thomas Schaaf at Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt .
Career
player
Although Michael Kraft was active as a professional footballer for eleven years, he usually only sat on the bench as number two. He was a regular goalkeeper at Bakırköyspor in Turkey and at 1. FC Cologne after Bodo Illgner moved to Real Madrid . A year later he lost his place again to Andreas Menger . At FC Gütersloh he was the regular goalkeeper for a half-series in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Trainer
After finishing his active career, he went to South Korea and worked at Bucheon SK and Incheon United as a goalkeeping coach. In the first half of the 2005/06 season he was assistant coach at Preußen Münster under head coach Colin Bell . From January 2006 he worked as a goalkeeping coach at Werder Bremen as the successor to Dieter Burdenski . In May 2012, his contract was extended by two years until 2014. Werder Bremen also ended their collaboration with Kraft after head coach Thomas Schaaf left and released him until the end of his contract. Together with Schaaf as head coach, Kraft was hired by Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2014 , after Schaaf's contract cancellation until June 30, 2016
