A goalkeeper coach is usually referred to as an assistant coach who assists the coach in charge of goalkeeping training . Many professional clubs in team sports such as ice hockey , soccer or handball have such specialists. Often the position is filled by former goalkeepers .

The goalkeeper coach takes on the planning and execution of the goalkeeper-specific types of training as part of the training work.
