Alexander "Alex" Nübel (born September 30, 1996 in Paderborn ) is a German football player . The goalkeeper has been under contract with FC Bayern Munich since July 2020 and is a former young German national player.

Nübel grew up in Salzkotten- Tudorf in East Westphalia and started playing football at TSV Tudorf. In 2005 he moved to the youth department of SC Paderborn 07 , where he was initially active as a field player until the U14. There he moved up to the professional squad for the 2014/15 season, but remained without a role in the season.

FC Schalke 04

He then moved to FC Schalke 04 , where he was used for the second team in the Regionalliga West . On the 34th matchday of the 2015/16 season , Nübel made his debut in a 4-1 away win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga when he came on in the 90th minute for goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann . On the last day of the 2017/18 season , Nübel played the second half in a 1-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt . He made his first start in the Bundesliga on October 20, 2018 in a 2-0 draw against Werder Bremen when the ferryman was injured at short notice. Four days later, he played his first Champions League game in a 0-0 draw against Galatasaray Istanbul .

After replacing the briefly injured team captain Ralf Fährmann three times in the Bundesliga in the first half of the 2018/19 season , Nübel went into the second half of the season as a regular goalkeeper. He played 18 Bundesliga games.

For the 2019/20 season he was appointed the new team captain by head coach David Wagner after the ferryman was loaned to England and remained the first choice in goal. After 15 game against Eintracht Frankfurt whose players Mijat Gaćinović with a " Kung Fu inflicted -occurs" in the chest a severe rib injury, the goalkeeper was sent off and suspended for four games. During the winter break it became known that Nübel would not extend his contract, which was running out at the end of the season, and would then switch to Bayern Munich . As a result, his teammate Omar Mascarell was appointed by Wagner as the new team captain. After Nübels suspension had expired, he ousted Schubert from the 20th match day and played the following four games. After poor performance, Markus Schubert , who had already represented Nübel during his suspension, was appointed goalkeeper. After he had not been able to convince in four games, Nübel returned to Schalke Tor on matchday 29 until the end of the season. He played a total of 26 league games this season.

FC Bayern Munich

At the beginning of January 2020, Nübel agreed with FC Bayern Munich on a change for the 2020/21 season . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2025.

National team

Under DFB coach Stefan Kuntz , Nübel made his debut on September 1, 2017 in the 1: 2 defeat against Hungary in the German U21 national team .
