Ivan Perišić [ pɛɾiʃitɕ ] (born February 2, 1989 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player . He is under contract with Inter Milan and has been on loan for FC Bayern Munich since August 2019 .

Perišić began his active sports time as a football player in the youth department of HNK Hajduk Split .

France and Belgium

In 2006 Perišić moved to FC Sochaux in France . In Sochaux he only received match practice in the second team in the fourth division before he was loaned to KSV Roeselare in 2009 . He stayed there for six months and scored five goals in 18 games in the Pro League . During this time he also completed a trial training session at Bundesliga club Hertha BSC , which, however, did not oblige him. Instead, Perišić moved to Club Bruges in the summer of 2009 . There he became the most accurate shooter in the 2010/11 season with 22 hits.

Germany

In the summer break of 2011, Perišić moved to the reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund , where he signed a five-year contract. He made his Champions League debut for the club on September 13, 2011 in the match against Arsenal , which he crowned with a goal to make it 1-1 in the 88th minute. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on matchday 7 in the away game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 . At the end of the 2011/12 season , Perišić won the double from the German championship and the DFB Cup with Borussia Dortmund .

At the beginning of January 2013 he joined the league competitor VfL Wolfsburg and signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2017.

Italy

On August 30, 2015, Perišić moved to the Italian Serie A for Inter Milan and signed a contract that ran until June 2020. The offensive player immediately became a regular at Inter, which always finished the seasons in the top third of the table.

Return to Germany

Shortly before the start of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season , he switched for a year on loan to the reigning German champions FC Bayern Munich , who have a one-sided purchase option. He made his competitive debut on August 24, 2019 (2nd matchday) in a 3-0 win in the away game against FC Schalke 04 with a substitution for Serge Gnabry in the 57th minute. He scored his first goal on August 31, 2019 (3rd matchday) in a 6-1 win in the home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 with the goal to make it 3-1 in the 54th minute. At the end of the season he won his second German championship and the third DFB Cup after 2012. Perišić is the fourth player in history to win the DFB Cup with three different clubs. Since the end of the season had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Perišić's loan contract was extended until August 31, so that he could play the cup final (July 4) and the 2019/20 Champions League season (August) . On August 23, 2020, he won the UEFA Champions League and thus the triple with Bayern against Paris Saint-Germain .

National team

Perišić was already active as a junior international before he played his first international match for the senior national team against the national team of Georgia , which was lost 1-0. He then played five more times for Croatia in the European Championship qualifiers and international test matches, but remained without scoring.

At the European Championships in 2012 Perišić was in the first two group matches against Ireland and Italy in the starting line-up and provided an assist.

At the 2016 European Championships in France , he was part of the squad and played as a regular player in all four matches. Against the national team of the Czech Republic , he brought his team 1-0 lead. In the game against defending champions Spain , his 50th international match, he prepared the goal to equalize 1-1 and scored the winning goal to make it 2-1. He reached the round of 16 with the Croatians as group D winner. There the team was eliminated from the competition against the eventual European champions, the national team of Portugal after extra time.

Perišić was part of the Croatian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia . In the third group game, the 2-1 win against Iceland , Perišić scored the winning goal in the last minute of regular time. In the semi-final , which was won against the national team of England 2: 1 nV , he scored the equalizer and presented the winning goal for Mario Mandžukić in the second half of extra time . Perišić was named Man of the Match after the game ; Croatia moved into a World Cup final for the first time. In the final against the French national team on July 15, 2018, he scored the goal to make it 1-1 for Croatia in the first half, but Perišić and his team lost 4-2. Perišič covered 72.5 kilometers more running distance than any other player during the World Cup.

Style of play

Perišić is a midfielder and also excels as a preparer. In Bruges he scored 22 goals and 10 assists in the 30 games of the Jupiler Pro League in 2010/11 and the ten play-offs that followed.

Perišić can play on the left as well as on the right wing or as a striker .

Perišić had a son in 2012 and a daughter in 2014.

In summer 2017 he took part in the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series in Poreč , Croatia .
