Lucas François Bernard Hernández Pi (born February 14, 1996 in Marseille ) is a French football player . After a total of 12 years at Atlético Madrid , the defender has been playing for FC Bayern Munich since summer 2019 . Hernández can play as an inside, but also as a left-back, as in the final of the World Cup , which he won with the French national team.
Career
societies
Hernández began playing football at Rayo Majadahonda , a club based in the municipality of the same name northwest of Madrid; then he moved to the youth department of Atlético Madrid at the age of eleven. As a 17-year-old he was already in the squad of the professional team several times , but initially played mostly with the second team in Group 2 of Segunda División B , the third-highest division in Spanish football .
From the beginning of 2016, the versatile defensive player came again and again to appearances for the professional team, including a brief appearance in the final of the Champions League in Milan , which was lost on penalties against city rivals Real Madrid . Up until the end of 2017, he was not in the starting line-up in most games, but this did not change until the beginning of 2018 and soon he was appointed to the French national team for the first time . After Atlético had only finished third in the group stage in autumn 2017 , the club continued in the Europa League in the new year , where initially the hurdles FC Copenhagen and Lokomotiv Moscow were cleared without any problems, and later on also managed to prevail against Sporting Lisbon and Arsenal FC and thus moved into the final, which was played in Parc Olympique Lyonnais near Lyon . Opponent was Olympique Marseille from Hernández's birth town and, like in almost all other games in the competition - once he was absent due to an injury - Hernández was also part of the starting line-up of Atleti in the final and thus contributed to the 3-0 final victory of his team, the fourth European Cup victory of the club. After the season, his contract term was extended for another two years until June 30, 2024.
The following season 2018/19 should still be Hernández 'last in the Atlético jersey. In the first competitive game in far-off Estonia , the newly crowned world champion and his team won the UEFA Super Cup against their eternal rivals from their own city . The following months were marked by numerous injuries for Hernández, however, and thus another duel against Real, this time in the league, was Hernández's last appearance for Atlético in February 2019, as he had sustained an inner ligament injury in his right knee and was out until the end of the season .
At the end of March, the German champions FC Bayern Munich announced the signing of Lucas Hernández for the 2019/20 season for the fixed transfer fee of 80 million euros and provided him with a five-year contract. This makes it the most expensive transfer in Bundesliga history. After his recovery, he was part of the starting line-up at Bayern from the second match day, but injured himself again in October and was out until February. At the end of the season he won the triple of the German Championship , DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League with FC Bayern Munich .
National team
Hernández went through the U16, U18, U19, U20 and U21 age groups of France's youth national teams before making his debut in the senior national team on March 23, 2018 , which lost a friendly against the Colombian national team 3-2 in Paris; he came on in the 76th minute for Lucas Digne .
On May 17, 2018 he was appointed to the squad for the World Cup in Russia by coach Didier Deschamps . He played all seven tournament games, including the final against the Croatian national team, won 4-2 on July 15 in Moscow .
