Blaise Matuidi (born April 9, 1987 in Toulouse ) is a French football player . The defensive midfielder has been under contract with Inter Miami since August 2020 and plays for the French national team , with which he became world champion in 2018 .

Career

societies

Matuidi, whose parents come from Angola and came to France via Zaïre , played in his youth for US Fontenay-sous-Bois , CO Vincennois and US Créteil . From the 2004/05 season he played for ES Troyes AC , where he came to two appearances in the professional team in his first season. Troyes made it to Ligue 1 this season , where he was a regular for his team from the following season. After Troyes was relegated from Ligue 1 in the 2006/07 season , Matuidi moved to AS Saint-Étienne to continue playing first-class.

In July 2011, Matuidi moved to league rivals Paris Saint-Germain . At Paris, Matuidi then became a top performer and regular player. At the end of 2015, he was named France Football's Player of the Year by France Football .

In August 2017 Matuidi joined Juventus in the Italian Serie A .

In August 2020, the 33-year-old Matuidi terminated his contract in Turin and then moved to Major League Soccer at the Inter Miami club founded by David Beckham . Both had played for PSG together.

National team

Matuidi was used for several French junior national teams. He completed 19 games for the French Under-21 national team , however, could not for the U21 European Championship in 2007 and the U21 European Championship 2009 qualifying.

He made his debut for the French national team on September 7, 2010 when he came on as a substitute for the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , Matuidi was accepted as a regular player in the French squad . In six of the seven games he was in the first team, only in the third group game against Switzerland he was spared and only came on later. In the 5-2 win over Iceland, he prepared the first goal of his team. His team lost the final 1-0 after extra time against Portugal.

He took part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia with the national team. In the final, the French defeated Croatia with 4: 2 ; Matuidi became world champion with his team.
