Career

societies

Olympique Marseille

Growing up in the Gavotte Peyret district , he began playing for the local club of the same name when he was five. After a while he moved to Pennes Mirabeau for two seasons before the scouts of Olympique Marseille discovered him. With the consent of his parents, he moved there at the age of 13.

Already at the age of 17 he played in Marseille's A-Team, but could not yet prevail and was mostly substituted on. It was only when he performed well at the U-20 World Cup in 2005 that he became a fixture in his club.

In the 2006/07 season he played 37 of 38 games and was one of the most noticeable players. He was voted player of the 2006/07 season by fans and was courted by a number of top clubs. He also received the Ligue 1 Best Young Player of the Year award presented to him by his friend and mentor Zinédine Zidane .

At the beginning of the following 2007/08 season he suffered a minor injury, because of which he was out of some games. He also played his first UEFA Champions League games that season .

Arsenal FC

In May 2008, Nasri extended his contract with Olympique Marseille until 2012, but moved to Arsenal in July . There he was supposed to replace Aliaksandr Hleb, who had migrated to FC Barcelona . Arsenal paid Olympique Marseille € 15m for the Frenchman. On August 16, 2008 at the league opener against West Bromwich Albion , the offensive player made his debut in the Premier League . In the same game, Nasri scored his first competitive goal for the Gunners . Eleven days later, on August 27, he came to the international train for the first time for the red-whites . As in the Premier League, Nasri scored a goal in the qualifying game for the Champions League.

The midfielder was injured while preparing for the 2009/10 season. The French young star broke his fibula in the Austrian training camp and was absent from his team for three months.

During the 2011 summer break, Nasri moved to Manchester City after weeks of negotiations . Across all competitions, he had played 125 times for the Gunners over three years and scored 27 goals.

Manchester City

Nasri signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2015. Nasri came to his first league game for the Citizens immediately after his commitment and prepared three goals in the 5-1 against Tottenham Hotspur . Under coach Roberto Mancini , Samir Nasri sat on the bench again and again, it was only when Manuel Pellegrini took over that the Frenchman developed into a regular player and top performer.

Sevilla FC

On August 31, 2016, Nasri was loaned out to Sevilla FC for one season .

Antalyaspor

On August 21, 2017, Nasri moved to the Turkish club Antalyaspor and received a two-year contract there. A transfer fee was not mentioned. In January 2018 the contract between Antalyaspor and Nasri was terminated.

Doping ban

At the end of 2016, during his time with Sevilla FC, Nasri received a prohibited infusion from a doctor who treated him privately, which was published on the Internet with a photo. UEFA suspended Nasri for six months in February 2018 for this doping treatment. After another check, the ban was extended to 18 months in August 2018.

West Ham United

After the doping ban had expired, Nasri joined West Ham United on January 1, 2019 . He signed a contract until the end of the 2018/19 season , which was not renewed.

RSC Anderlecht

On July 5, 2019, RSC Anderlecht announced that Nasri would be part of its squad from the 2019/2020 season . After playing league games for Anderlecht until mid-October 2019, he has since been out due to injuries. His contract with RSC Anderlecht expired on June 30, 2020.

On the occasion of the international match against Austria on March 28, 2007, he was used for the first time by national coach Domenech in the French national team and also prepared the winning goal for Karim Benzema . He scored his first goal for France during the European Championship qualifier against Georgia on June 6, 2007.

At the European Championship finals in 2008 he was part of the French squad . However, he only came to two short assignments. The last one was particularly noteworthy. Nasri was substituted in for the injured Franck Ribèry in the decisive game against Italy and only 15 minutes later for Jean-Alain Boumsong for tactical reasons . In his first outing against Romania , he played 12 minutes when he came on for Benzema.

He was not nominated for the 2010 World Cup ; After the French debacle in South Africa , Domenech's successor Laurent Blanc called him back to the squad regularly, and at the end of that year Nasri was named France's Footballer of the Year . He was in the squad for the 2012 European Championship and was used in all games; against England he scored the 1-1 final score. After the French elimination in the quarter-finals, he was verbally abusive to an editor of the AFP news agency , for which both Blanc and association president Noël Le Graët criticized him. Nasri was summoned for his behavior for the end of July 2012 before the disciplinary committee of the French association FFF , and subsequently suspended for three games. The new French national coach Didier Deschamps considered Nasri again for the first time in August 2013, even if only as a substitute. In May 2014, Deschamps Nasri denied teamwork and did not include him in the French squad for the 2014 World Cup . As a result, Nasri ended his national team career in August.
