Premier League Player of the Month
The Premier League Player of the Month ( German Premier League Player of the Month ) is an award for the best football player of the month in the English Premier League , which has been awarded since the 1994/95 season. A season earlier, the Premier League Manager of the Month ( German Premier League Trainer of the Month ) was introduced by the league.
The first prize winner was the German striker Jürgen Klinsmann in August 1994. With six awards so far, the two Englishmen Steven Gerrard and Harry Kane as well as the Argentine Sergio Agüero top the list of winners. Two players were honored together six times (Nov. 1994: Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton ; Jan 1996: Stan Collymore and Robbie Fowler ; Nov 1997: Andrew Cole and Kevin Davies ; Nov 1997: Andrew Cole and Kevin Davies; Feb. 2004: Dennis Bergkamp and Edu ; Apr. 2007: Dimitar Berbatow and Robbie Keane ; Mar. 2014: Steven Gerrard and Luis Suárez ). Six players received the award in consecutive months: Robbie Fowler (1995/96), Dennis Bergkamp (1997/98), Cristiano Ronaldo (2006/07), Harry Kane (2014/15), Jamie Vardy (2015/16) and Mohamed Salah (2017/18).
Since the 2019/20 season had to be interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic , there was no election from March to May 2020.
