Premier League Manager of the Month



The Premier League Manager of the Month ( German Premier League Trainer of the Month ) is an award for the best football coach of the month in the English Premier League , which has been awarded since the 1993/94 season. Since the 1994/95 season, also is the Premier League Player of the Month ( German Premier League player of the month selected).
history
Initially, the winner was chosen by a group of members of the Football Association and announced on the first or second Friday of the following month. The Premier League is currently making proposals that can be voted on online.
The first winner, Sir Alex Ferguson from Scotland , also received the award most frequently. Between August 1993 and October 2012 he was awarded 27 times as coach of Manchester United . He is followed by the French Arsène Wenger ( Arsenal FC ) with 15 awards and the Scot David Moyes ( Everton ) with ten appointments. Wenger became the first non- UK or Irish recipient in March 1998 . In March 2002, the prize was awarded to the two coaches Gérard Houllier and Phil Thompson (both Liverpool FC ), as Houllier had to take a break due to illness and Thompson took over the coaching position. The Israeli Avram Grant was the first coach of the month outside of Europe in April 2008. The first German coach to win in September 2016 is Jürgen Klopp from Liverpool FC. The Italian Antonio Conte was the first coach to win the award three times in a row (October to December 2016). Pep Guardiola was honored with the award four times in a row from September to December 2017. Jürgen Klopp was elected Manager of the Month for the second time in December 2018 . His player Virgil van Dijk was also elected Premier League Player of the Month.
Since the 2019/20 season had to be interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic , there was no election from March to May 2020.
Surname
The first namesake of the choice was the then league sponsor Carling. After that, the choice bore the name of the respective advertising partner. Since the 2016/17 season , the highest English football league has not had a name sponsor . The name of the award remained with Barclays Manager of the Month .
