The 1995/96 Premier League was the fourth season of the Premier League , which was organized by the FA , and at the same time the 97th first division season in English football. It began on August 19, 1995 and ended on May 4, 1996.
The league was reduced to 20 clubs. Champion was Manchester United , which also won the FA Cup . In the First Division , the promoted Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City and the Queens Park Rangers had to relegate. The top scorer was Alan Shearer of Blackburn Rovers with 31 goals .
