Football League First Division 1982/83

The Football League First Division 1983/84 was the 85th season of the highest English football league . It began on August 27, 1983 and ended on May 17, 1984.

The Liverpool won thirteen points clear of FC Southampton 's now 15 Championship and defended the title from the previous year. Nottingham Forest , Manchester United and the Queens Park Rangers were close behind . Of the three climbers Wolverhampton Wanderers , Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City , only the "Wolves" could not hold the class and had to return to the Second Division after only one year . In addition, Birmingham City and Notts County descended. These three clubs should be replaced in the following season by the three second division promoted Chelsea , Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United .

A total of 492 players were used, with Liverpool FC with 15 the fewest and Wolverhampton Wanderers with 30 the most players in league games. 108 newcomers opposed 116 footballers, who last came into play in the 1983/84 season. 26 players were able to play all 42 league games in their club.

The championship team of Liverpool FC

The following list lists all players who played in a league game for Liverpool FC during the 1983/84 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
