Football League First Division 1984/85

The Football League First Division 1985/86 was the 87th season of the highest English football league . It began on August 17, 1985 and ended on May 5, 1986.

The Liverpool won with two points ahead of city rivals and defending champions FC Everton 's now 16th championship. Of the newly promoted Manchester City , Oxford United and Birmingham City , only the club from Birmingham had to return to the Second Division after just one year . In addition, Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion descended. These three clubs should be replaced in the following season by the three second division promoted Norwich City , FC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic .

A total of 488 players were used, with Liverpool FC and West Ham United with 18 the fewest and West Bromwich Albion with 33 the most players in league games. 98 newcomers were opposed to 99 footballers who last came into play in the 1985/86 season. 17 players were able to play all 42 league games in their club.

The championship team of Liverpool FC

The following list lists all players who played in a league game for Liverpool FC during the 1985/86 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
